I am Chef Ashish Singh Chandel, ( @chefashishchandel ) a 29 something, India based Chef, Restaurateur, Chef Consultant and a seasoned traveller. Belongs to a farmers family in a small village situated in the lap of Vindhya Mountain range, Sonbhadra, I grew up with a dream to be an Aeronautical engineer but god had some different plans for my career and I moved to the city of Taj, Agra for starting my journey of Hotel Management.
After few months of studying, I got inspired with a story by one of the faculty which was about a Chef’s life and personality in the hotel industry and this story made me sure to start my journey to become a Chef.
Started my career with Radisson Blu GRT Chennai, where I truly understand my role and importance of a Chef. From here I never looked back and worked with many reputed hotel brands ( The WestIn Chennai, Hyatt Amritsar, Four Point by Sheraton Agra ) and within a span of 3 years I became Sous Chef.
Then I got opportunity to work with “Celebrity Cruises” in 2016 and this opportunity made by dream come true to be an upcoming Celebrity Chef. I toured 60 countries in search of food and learnt all the aspects of food preparation to presentation.
I came back to Agra and started giving my inputs as Consulting Chef as Agra was an upcoming destination for new cafes and I grabbed this opportunity by planning and opening of Cafes like “Culinary Junction by Udupi“, “Café Chhat”, “2nd Wife” and “The Mad Kitchen, Jhansi.
Unintentionally this created a platform for an upcoming café brand in becoming. In this journey, I met with one of my junior Alok Pandey, a travel professional and traveller to create a unique dining experiences for Agra with the name “Navratna ‘’ after few months “ Desi Café Agra” was the brand of Ashish and Alok which came into picture and became a landmark in Agra dining experience.
The Brand Desi Café is known for its quality of food along with unmatched views.
